Getting back into the groove after a few weeks of holiday goodness can be difficult. You’ve gotten pretty used to kicking back by the fire and watching hours upon hours of Christmas movies (I admit to watching Home Alone five times in a week), and work was not your top priority.
Now that we’re right into 2017, it’s time to begin hustling again! The productivity train is ready to leave the station, and you’d better get on it.
How you ask? Csek out our tips for increasing your productivity.
Time Blocking: Our CEO, Nikki Csek, swears by the art of time blocking. By setting aside 20 minutes, an hour or multiple hours of your day dedicated to one task, you can get s**t done. A useful tool in time blocking is the Datexx The Miracle Cube Timer. This little cube allows you to choose an amount of time that you need to complete a task, and then rings the alarm when time is up. Focusing in on your task as the cube timer counts down will allow you to devote much needed time to the tasks that you need to get done.
Limit Checking Email: I suck at this, but it’s on my to-do list to get better at it ;). Emails pour in throughout the day, moving your glance from your important tasks to your inbox, and sucking time from your day. The important thing to remember is that you are not at everyone’s beck and call, and most of them probably don’t expect you to be. Focus on checking at least 1-3 tasks off of your list before letting your eyes return to your inbox, only to add another handful of tasks to that list.
Use Technology: As a company rooted in technology, we feel that it is important to use tech to stay productive. Some of our favourite apps for increasing productivity include:
Slack for communicating
Evernote for compiling lists
Dropbox for sharing large files
Hootsuite for scheduling our Twitter posts
